Drive technology specialist Flender has once again achieved Platinum status in the EcoVadis sustainability rating, scoring 88 out of 100 points in 2026. According to the company’s announcement issued in Bocholt on 2 November 2026, the result keeps Flender among the top 1 percent of all companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide.
High scores across four categories
Flender says it scored 91 points for environment, 89 for labour and human rights, and 86 each for ethics and sustainable procurement in this year’s rating. The EcoVadis assessment considers management systems and policies as well as how they are put into practice within the company.
The company notes that independent assessment of sustainable business processes and supply chains is becoming increasingly important to customers and business partners. According to Flender, the result also helps its customers meet their own sustainability requirements and regulatory obligations.
Waste heat from the hardening shop heats the buildings
Among the measures reflected in the rating is the use of waste heat at the Bocholt site. According to the announcement, a high-capacity heat pump reuses waste heat from the in-house hardening shop, where toothed components are hardened, and a new heating distributor feeds it into the buildings’ heating system. Flender states that this can save around 2.4 million kilowatt-hours of natural gas and avoid about 400 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.
Activities in employee development, belonging and compliance were also taken into account. The company cites its Global Learning Week, the “Gemeinsam Genießen” initiative, in which colleagues shared personal stories, recipes and cultural traditions, and regular training and processes to ensure high standards of integrity, compliance and sustainable procurement.
“Sustainability as part of the corporate culture”
“Being placed once again among the top one percent of all companies rated by EcoVadis confirms our ambition to consistently combine sustainability and economic success. The result is a joint achievement of our employees worldwide and shows that responsible conduct is firmly established in our corporate culture,” said Andreas Evertz, CEO of the Flender Group.
“EcoVadis does not assess individual projects but the systematic integration of sustainability across all areas of the business. This rating is therefore above all proof of the daily commitment of our teams worldwide and of the continuous development of our processes,” said Kimberley ten Broeke, Head of CSR at Flender.
With a history of more than 125 years, Flender offers gear units, couplings, generators and associated digitally supported lifecycle services. Under its “Flender” and “Winergy” brands, the company focuses on industries including wind energy, minerals and raw materials processing, cement, power generation, plastics and rubber, defence, marine and metalworking. Headquartered in Bocholt, Germany, Flender employs more than 8,000 people worldwide.
