WEG launches Gear ProSelect to speed up gearbox and gearmotor selection
WEG’s new Gear ProSelect tool sizes gearboxes and gearmotors from application data, with thermal validation, live 3D models and e-commerce integration.
WEG has introduced Gear ProSelect (GPS), a digital tool that simplifies and standardises the selection, configuration and documentation of gearboxes and gearmotors. Built as a single global solution, it gives a consistent sizing method across regions and reduces the time usually spent on manual calculations or engineering support.
The launch is part of WEG’s wider effort to modernise its product selection and configuration tools and align its gearbox portfolio with connected, data-driven industrial environments.
Sizing from application data, with thermal validation
On the web-based platform, users size and configure gearboxes directly from application-specific data. After entering parameters such as mass, speed and inertia, they receive product recommendations backed by integrated mechanical and thermal validation.
WEG describes thermal validation as a unique differentiator: it analyses heat generation and dissipation under defined operating conditions to confirm that the selected gearbox will stay within acceptable temperature limits, reducing the risk of overheating and premature wear.
Two selection methods are available: a traditional route based on technical inputs such as motor power, torque and output speed, and a second based on the drive data of the customer’s machine, so configurations reflect real operating conditions rather than nominal values alone.
3D configuration, documentation in up to 20 languages
After sizing, accessories are configured in a visual interface with real-time 3D model updates. Datasheets and 2D and 3D drawings in multiple formats are generated automatically in up to 20 languages. Gear ProSelect is integrated with WEG’s EASY e-commerce system, allowing users to move from configuration to quotation and purchase in one workflow, and is open to customers, distributors, sales representatives, assemblers and application engineers.
Marcio Yoshikazu Ematsu, European marketing manager at WEG, called the tool a major step in the company’s digital transformation, saying the combination of intelligent validation, real-time visualisation and global standardisation gives customers more autonomy while improving efficiency across WEG’s worldwide network.
