NORD DRIVESYSTEMS produces more than one million electric motors a year
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS builds more than one million electric motors a year, with an IE3 to IE5+ efficiency portfolio serving over 100 industries.
More than one million stand-alone electric motors leave NORD DRIVESYSTEMS’ production halls worldwide every year. Originally conceived as an addition to the company’s gear unit portfolio, NORD motors are now supplied in standard and special versions to users in more than 100 industries.
In-house motor production since 1983
According to the company, NORD began manufacturing its own motors in 1983 and today produces well over a million units annually. In three factories, the drive specialist builds asynchronous motors from 0.12 kW to 55 kW and synchronous motors from 0.5 kW to 11 kW, covering both standard designs and customer-specific configurations. Flexibility and availability are the two priorities.
Applications range from energy-intensive motors in continuous intralogistics operation to smooth-surface motors with NXD tupH® surface treatment for wash-down areas in the food industry. For conveyor systems in dust or gas atmospheres, NORD offers explosion-protected versions certified to ATEX, IECEx, CCCEx and HazLoc.
Efficiency portfolio from IE3 to IE5+
Motors in efficiency classes IE3 to IE5 are among NORD’s most popular developments, and the company states that this “efficiency portfolio” meets the efficiency regulations of all its international target markets. With its IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motor, NORD goes beyond the efficiency required by the highest defined IE class. Because motor dimensions are identical across classes, users can move to a higher efficiency class in retrofit projects without fundamental mechanical modifications.
Production in Italy, Poland and China
NORD manufactures its standard and special motors in Italy, Poland and China, with additional motor assembly facilities in North and South America, India and Australia, enabling short delivery times for national and international projects. As products such as the asynchronous UNIVERSAL motor and the IE5+ synchronous motor comply with international standards and approvals, they can be integrated into machines worldwide without significant design changes, simplifying commissioning.
